Tough first quarter leads to Whiteoak loss to Bethel-Tate
Wednesday (Feb. 7) saw the Whiteoak Wildcats host the Bethel-Tate Tigers in non-conference action, and the final result was the Wildcats losing on their home court by a 64-46 score.
The Tigers dominated early, winning the first quarter at 21-4, and following a second quarter where WHS scored 11 points and BTHS added 17 points to their total, it was the Tigers leading the Wildcats, 38-15 at halftime.
Each team scored 15 points in the third quarter, and then in the final quarter WHS outscored BTHS 16-11, but ultimately lost by 18 points.
For WHS, the leading scorer was Brady Brandenburg with 18 points, with his points coming from seven two-point baskets and a 4-of-5 performance from the free-throw line.
Sawyer Blair followed with eight points, making two 3-pointers and a two-point bucket. There were also Zander Roades and Tyler Wessner each scoring seven points, as Roades and Wessner each made a 3-pointer and two two-point baskets.
Zach Igo totaled four points, and Jonah Michael totaled two points.
WHS finished with 14 two-point baskets, four 3-pointers, and they were 6-of-7 from the free-throw line.
Griffin Davis led Bethel-Tate with 20 points, followed by Owen Murray with 13 points, and Carter Moss scored 10 points.
BTHS finished with 20 two-point baskets, six 3-pointers and they finished 6-of-9 from the free-throw line.
The win moved WHS to 5-15 overall, while BTHS improved to 10-8 overall.
