Manchester defeats Whiteoak in softball battle
Hosting Manchester on Tuesday (April 30), the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats lost to the visiting Lady Greyhounds by an 8-2 score.
WHS (2-10, 6-11) trailed 2-1 after the first innings, and later 7-1 after Manchester had inning scores of one, two and two runs, respectively, from the fourth through sixth innings. WHS added a run in the bottom of the second for a 7-2 deficit, and Manchester added one last run in the top of the seventh.
Whiteoak ended the game with two hits, and they committed four errors. Manchester totaled 10 hits and had no errors.
Jaylie Parr for Whiteoak was 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI, as she hit a home run. Elena Limon finished 1-for-3. Parr and Bri Hill were both hit by a pitch, and earning steals for WHS were also Parr and Hill.
Hill also forced a walk for the Lady ‘Cats, and Molly McMullen had two walks.
Hill pitched 5.1 innings, allowing six earned runs with eight strikeouts. Lily Leston pitched 1.2 innings, allowing one earned run on no hits and one walk.
