Lady ’Cats take down Eastern; fall to Fayetteville

The past two games for the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats softball team have seen them go 1-1 in the Southern Hills Athletic Conference with a win over Eastern and a loss to Fayetteville. 

Monday (April 15) saw Whiteoak win on the road by a 5-4 score, using a one-run top of the first, and they rallied for a four-run top of the seventh to gain the conference win, with nine total hits in the game. 

Eastern tied the score at 1-1 in the bottom of the third, followed by a one-run fourth inning and two-run fifth inning as Eastern finished with seven hits. 

For the game, WHS committed four errors, while EHS had one error. 

Lily Leston went 2-for-3 with a double and a hit by pitch, while teammate Kylee Hamm was also 2-for-3 with one RBI and one walk. 

Jaylie Parr for WHS was 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Molly McMullen was 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Madison Davidson was 1-for-3 (a double), while Elena Limon was 1-for-2 with one run. Also for WHS, Jay Clift went 1-for-3 with one run.

The Lady ’Cats also had Bri Hill force a walk. Parr, Hill and Hamm (two) all had steals. 

Hill was the winning pitcher, as she went all seven innings in the circle, finishing with four earned runs on seven hits and one walk, and she also collected 10 strikeouts. Hill threw 121 pitches, 82 for strikes.

On Tuesday (April 16), the Lady ’Cats lost on the road to SHAC rival Fayetteville, 4-0. 

WHS was no-hit in the game and committed two errors, while Fayetteville totaled 12 hits. 

Waddle of Fayetteville pitched all seven innings in the no-hitter, striking out 18 and walking two batters.

Kylee Hamm and Molly McMullen forced the two walks for WHS. Hamm also had a steal in the loss. 

Hill was charged with the pitching loss, as she went six innings, allowing no earned runs with two strikeouts. 

The win and loss on Monday and Tuesday put WHS at 4-4 overall.
