Lady ’Cats shut out Astros

A non-conference game between the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats and the East Clinton Lady Astros on Tuesday (April 9) saw WHS earn a road win in Clinton County, with WHS defeating East Clinton, 3-0 for the shutout win.
WHS scored two of their runs in the top of the second and one final run in the top of the seventh inning. WHS totaled two hits and committed one error, while ECHS had three hits and no errors.
For Whiteoak, Elly McMullen was 1-for-3 (a double) with one RBI, while Elena Limon went 1-for-3 with one RBI. Bri Hill scored two runs for WHS, and Kylee Hamm also scored a Whiteoak run.
RBIs in the game were credited to McMullen, Limon and Madison Davidson. Hill drew the lone WHS walk in the victory. Hill and Hamm were each hit by a pitch. Hill also had two steals.
Hill was the winning pitcher for Whiteoak, as she pitched all seven shutout innings, allowing no runs on three hits and two walks with 15 strikeouts. Hill threw 114 pitches, 75 for strikes.
The win sends Whiteoak to an overall record of 3-3 overall, with a Southern Hills Athletic Conference record of 0-1.
Next for WHS is a game Thursday, April 11 on the road at SHAC rival Fairfield at 5 p.m.
