Lady ’Cats fall to Ripley in extras

On Wednesday, April 30, the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats dropped a Southern Hills Athletic Conference game against the visiting Ripley Lady Blue Jays by a 5-3 score in extra innings.
In the game played at Whiteoak High School, Ripley and Whiteoak were nearly even in hits with RHS having eight and WHS finishing with seven. Ripley also committed one error, while the Lady Wildcats had three errors.
Whiteoak led early with a run in the bottom of the second inning, and after each team scored two runs in the fourth, it was Whiteoak still holding on to a one-run lead at 3-2.
Ripley tied the score in the top of the sixth with a run and earned the win with two runs crossing the plate in the top of the eighth and final inning.
Kylee Hamm was 3-for-4 at the plate for Whiteoak, collecting three RBI as two of her hits were doubles.
Kylee Ruark went 1-for-3 with a walk, and teammate Kiley Mitchell was 1-for-1. The Lady ’Cats also had Janelle Clift go 1-for-2 with a run and two walks, while Lily Leston went 1-for-3 with a run and a walk. Whiteoak also had a walk forced by Elly McMullen, and Madison Davidson scored a run and drew two walks.
Steals were credited to McMullen, Davidson (two), Hamm (two), Mitchell and Clift.
The loss in the circle went to Leston, who in eight innings finished with 14 strikeouts.
The loss sends Whiteoak to an overall record of 2-10 this season.
