Lady ‘Cats earn 11th win of season; defeat East Clinton

For the 11th time this season the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats left the court with a victory, and on Monday night they did so by defeating the visiting East Clinton Lady Astros, 37-32.
The non-conference game — which was also youth night for Whiteoak — saw the Lady ’Cats and Lady Astros each score 10 points in the opening quarter, followed by ECHS outscoring Whiteoak 9-7 in the second for a ECHS lead of 19-17 at halftime.
Coming out of the locker room for the second half, Whiteoak had their best quarter of the frame, putting 12 points on the board, while allowing only three points in the third frame for a WHS lead of 29-22, going from down two points to leading by seven points once the third frame came to a close.
East Clinton cut into the lead of Whiteoak in the fourth as they scored 10 points, and the Lady Wildcats scored eight points to finish the game.
Whiteoak was led in scoring by Lydia Carr with 13 points, and she gained a double-double with 14 rebounds. Carr totaled two two-point baskets and was 9-of-10 from the free-throw line.
Kylee Hamm and Jaylie Parr each scored six points, with Hamm collecting seven rebounds and two steals, while Parr made a 3-pointer as part of her overall scoring. She also added five rebounds, three steals and one block.
Molly McMullen finished with five points (including one 3-pointer) and added five steals, two assists and two rebounds.
Also for WHS, Addison Roberts totaled four points, six rebounds and two steals.
Kelsey Monteith finished with three points, one rebound, one assist and one steal.
As a team, WHS totaled 37 rebounds (17 offensive), 16 steals, six assists and one block.
The win improves WHS to 11-5 overall, and they are currently 6-2 in the Southern Hills Athletic Conference Division II standings, as they are currently first place.
WHS will play again Thursday, Jan. 18 on the road in SHAC action against the Fairfield Lady Lions (3-5, 4-9).
