Lady ’Cats drop games to Fayetteville, Peebles in SHAC contests

Tuesday and Wednesday saw the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats fall in Southern Hills Athletic Conference action, as Tuesday (April 23) they fell to Fayetteville, followed by a loss on Wednesday (April 24) to the Peebles Lady Indians. 

On Tuesday, WHS lost to Fayetteville, 6-0, and after two scoreless innings by both teams, the Lady Rockets scored their first three runs in the top of the third, followed by a two-run fifth inning and one last run in the top of the sixth. 

In all, Fayetteville finished with 10 hits and no errors, while Whiteoak had one hit and two errors. 

Whiteoak’s lone hit was off the bat of Lily Leston, as she was 1-for-3. Elly McMullen forced a walk to reach first base. 

Of the 10 runs scored, six were earned runs charged to WHS. Leston pitched two innings, allowing one earned run on three hits and no walks with one strikeout. Bri Hill pitched five innings, allowing five earned runs on seven hits and four walks with one strikeout.

The WHS Lady Wildcats traveled to Peebles on Wednesday where they lost by an 18-8 score. The SHAC loss included Whiteoak scoring four runs in the top of the fourth, one run in the fifth and three runs in the sixth inning. 

Peebles scored one run in the bottom of the first, followed by a two-run second, five runs in the bottom of the third and a 10-run inning in the bottom of the sixth for the run-rule win over WHS. 

The Lady Indians totaled 20 hits and no errors, and Whiteoak had seven hits and five errors. 

Jaylie Parr was 2-for-4 for Whiteoak as she collected two runs, followed by Kylee Hamm going 1-for-2 with a triple, one run and one RBI. 

Lily Leston finished 1-for-4 with a run and RBI, while teammate Charli Hauke finished 1-for-2 with a run and one RBI. Madison Davidson finished the SHAC game at 1-for-3 with one RBI. Jay Clift also had a hit for Whiteoak, going 1-for-3. 

Bri Hill collected two RBI, and Molly McMullen scored a run and had one RBI. Elly McMullen scored a run, while Addy Hauke also scored a run and collected one RBI. 

Steals for Whiteoak included one each by Parr and Davidson. 

Leston pitched for WHS, striking out three batters in 5.2 innings.
