Lady ’Cats defeat Ripley, fall to Manchester in SHAC action

Thursday (April 27) saw the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats fall in a road Southern Hills Athletic Conference game to the Manchester Lady Greyhounds by one run, 7-6.

Manchester led early with their first run rounding the bases in the bottom of the first inning, and then that lead went to four runs following a three-run third inning for a 4-0 WHS deficit.

The Lady Greyhounds added to their lead with a run in fifth and another run in the bottom of the sixth for a six-run lead.

WHS didn’t fold in the top of seventh, rather they scored all six of their runs in the inning, tying the score at 6-6. Manchester won the game with a final walkoff run scored in the bottom of the seventh for the 7-6 victory over Whiteoak.

Whiteoak totaled four hits in the loss, while Manchester had 10 hits.

For the Lady ’Cats, Lily Leston was 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Molly McMullen finished 1-for-4 with a home run, one run and one RBI. Elly McMullen finished 1-for-2 with two RBI and a walk. Also with a hit was Janelle Clift, as she was 1-for-3 with a run.

Addison Roberts collected an RBI, three walks and two steals. Bri Hill totaled one run, one walk and a steal. Madison Davidson scored a run, forced a walk and stole a base. Mattie Conrad finished with a run and a walk.

Hill had the loss in the circle, allowing seven earned runs on 10 hits and no walks, with six strikeouts.

On Friday, the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats earned a SHAC victory by defeating the Ripley Lady Blue Jays by a 4-3 score.

RHS scored two runs in the top of the first and added a run in the fourth inning. WHS scored all four of their runs in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead and eventually the SHAC victory.

Whiteoak finished with four hits and three errors. Ripley totaled 10 hits and had one error.

Lily Leston finished 2-for-4 for WHS, and Jaylie Parr was 1-for-3 with one run, one walk and a steal. Bri Hill went 1-for-1 with a run, one walk, a HBP and a steal.

Elena Limon drew two walks, and Molly McMullen collected a run and a steal. Madison Davidson had a run and a walk, while Mattie Conrad batted in a run for an RBI, plus walked once. Elly McMullen forced a walk in the win.

Hill was the winning pitcher, going six innings in the circle, allowing two earned runs on 10 hits and a walk. She finished with six strikeouts. 

Following the two recent games, WHS now stands at 6-11 overall.
