Izayiah Clift tosses no-hitter vs. Manchester; Wildcats fall to Eastern, defeat Felicity
The Whiteoak had a huge pitching performance on Tuesday, April 30, as freshman Izayah Clift tossed a no-hitter against the visiting Manchester Greyhounds, 4-0.
Clift pitched seven innings, allowing no hits, no runs and just two walks, while also striking out 10 batters in his first varsity no-hitter.
“Izayah Clift spun a gem in a big game, with no hits,” WHS head coach Chris Veidt. “Eli [Roberts], Zander [Roades] and Kaden [Moon-Stone] set the tone for us offensively, and Zander was outstanding defensively today as well.”
At the plate for the Wildcats, they collected five hits, with Zander Roades going 2-for-3 with two runs, a steal and a double. Eli Roberts was big at the plate as well, finishing 2-for-3 with three RBI.
Also with a hit for Whiteoak was Jonah Michael, as he was 1-for-3.
Kaden Moon-Stone also scored two runs for the Wildcats in the win.

Wildcats fall to Eastern in SHAC contest
Thursday, May 2 saw the Whiteoak Wildcats drop a SHAC game to the host Eastern Warriors, 9-2 at EHS.
WHS scored their two runs with one each in the top of the second and third innings. Eastern scored one run in the bottom of the first, followed by a run in the two of the second and a three-run third inning. They added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth and two more runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Eastern finished with 12 hits and three errors, while Whiteoak finished with six hits and five errors.
Whiteoak’s six hits included a 2-for-2 game by Jacen Applegate, as he also collected one RBI and a walk.
Also with hits were Caden Butler at 1-for-2, Jacob Kiley at 1-for-3 with one RBI. Also for WHS, Kaden Moon-Stone finished the game at 1-for-4 and Zander Roades went 1-for-3 with a run, two steals and a walk.
Moon-Stone was charged with the loss, pitching five innings, allowing two earned runs on nine hits and a walk with three strikeouts.
Roberts pitched one inning, allowing two earned runs on two hits with two strikeouts.
“We must throw and catch better to beat teams of this caliber,” Veidt said. “Offensively we weren’t bad, and Kaden Moon-Stone battled through five innings on the mound and deserved a better fate. Jacen Applegate had a solid night for us offensively.”

Wildcats win on Senior Day
Saturday afternoon (May 4) on Senior Day for the Whiteoak Wildcats, they defeated Felicity 4-3 at Whiteoak High School.
The Wildcats scored two runs in the bottom of the first, followed with one run in the fourth and one last run in the sixth. Felicity finished with one run in the top of the third, followed by a run in the fourth and one last run in the top of the seventh.
FHS finished with seven hits and one error, while Whiteoak totaled eight hits and three errors.
Of the eight hits for Whiteoak, they had six of those hits off the bats of Kaden Moon-Stone, Abraham Flader and Zander Roades. Moon-Stone was 2-for-3 with a run, one walk and one steal.
Roades ended the game 2-for-3 with one RBI, a double and one walk. Flader finished 2-for-3 with two runs and two steals.
Jacen Applegate finished the game at 1-for-2 with one RBI, a double and a walk. Jacob Kiley was 1-for-3 with one RBI and a steal. Eli Roberts scored a run for Whiteoak in the win.
Roades pitched six innings for the win, ending the game with two runs allowed (one earned) on seven hits and a walk with seven strikeouts.
Izayah Clift pitched one inning, allowing one run (unearned) on two hits and no walks with one strikeout.
“Zander Roades had a big day today as he had two hits and six quality innings on the mound. Kaden Moon-Stone and Abraham Flader chipped in two hits apiece,” Veidt said. “Jacen Applegate added a clutch double.
“Izayah Clift notched his first varsity save as he continues to come up big on the mound. This is a great way to honor our three seniors: Dakota Clift, Moon-Stone and Eli Roberts. Their leadership has been vital toward our success this season.”
WHS now stands at 9-4 in the SHAC, and overall they have a record of 16-5.
