Brady Brandenburg drills 3-pointer at buzzer for Whiteoak win

The final seconds for the Whiteoak Wildcats were pressure-packed on Friday night, but once the final buzzer sounded, it was a long-range 3-pointer by Brady Brandenburg that lifted the Wildcats to a 48-45 win over the Fayetteville Rockets.

After the Rockets made the basket with just a few seconds left on the clock (tying the score at 45), Whiteoak took the ball downcourt, and Brandenburg released the shot as the buzzer sounded, sinking the big 3-pointer for the victory.

Fayetteville led 16-9 after the first quarter, and with both teams scoring eight points in the second quarter, it left WHS trailing the Rockets 24-17 at halftime.

Fayetteville scored 12 points in the third quarter, but it was WHS winning the frame with a 17-point effort, leaving the score 36-34 with the Rockets in the lead.

The Wildcats won the fourth frame at 14-9, pushing them into the lead for the three-point win.

WHS was led in the scoring column by Zander Roades with 18 points, finishing with six two-point buckets and two 3-pointers, as 16 of his 18 points came in the second half.

Sawyer Blair scored 14 points in the SHAC win for the Wildcats, totaling four two-point baskets, one 3-pointer, and he was 3-of-5 from the free-throw line.

Brandenburg totaled 11 points, with three two-pointers, one 3-pointer, and he was 2-of-4 from the free-throw line.

Zach Igo finished with five points, sinking a two pointer and going 3-of-4 from the free-throw line.

The Wildcats totaled 14 two-point baskets, four 3-pointers, and they were 8-of-13 from the free-throw line.

Fayetteville’s leading scorer was Alex Bradshaw with 15 points, making four two-point baskets, one 3-pointer, and he was 4-of-4 from the free-throw line.

Brady Feldhaus totaled nine points for the rockets, while the rest of their scoring included Charlie Coffman with eight points, Jack South with seven points and Keegan Craycraft with six points.

The Rockets totaled 12 two-point baskets, five 3-pointers, and they were 6-of-8 from the free-throw line.

The win improves WHS to 4-4 in the SHAC Division II standings and 7-8 overall. Fayetteville is now 6-3 in the SHAC Division II standings and 10-6 overall.
