Mustangs shut out Blue Jays with 11-run win

Earning a Southern Hills Athletic Conference win on Thursday night (April 27), the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs defeated the Ripley Blue Jays, 11-0 in five innings for the run-rule victory on the road.

The Mustangs totaled 12 hits and committed no errors, while Ripley had one hit and three errors.

LCHS had four players each earn two hits with Josiah Burns going 2-for-3 with three runs, one RBI, one walk and two steals. Christian Flowers finished 2-for-3 with a double and two runs. Also with two hits was Isaac Eyre at 2-for-3 with two runs and three RBI. Brayden Oberrecht was 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Braedon West was 1-for-3 with two RBI and a walk, and Asher Faust finished 1-for-3 with a run and a steal.

Cole Wells collected an RBI, and Cody Bell forced a walk.

Flowers was the winning pitcher, pitching all five innings and allowing no runs on one hit and one walk, with nine strikeouts. Flowers threw 63 pitches, 42 for strikes, and he faced 17 batters.

The win moves the LCHS Mustangs to 7-11 overall this season.
