Mustangs rebound with victory against Eastern

After falling on Monday night to the Eastern Warriors in Southern Hills Athletic Conference action, the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs returned the favor against the conference rival, by defeating the Warriors at EHS by a 7-6 score. 

The Mustangs scored their seven runs with a three-run top of the third, followed by a four-run fourth inning. Eastern led early with a run in the bottom of the first, then scored three runs in the bottom of the third, and their seventh-inning rally was cut short with LCHS holding them to two runs. 

The game saw LCHS total three hits and commit three errors, while Eastern had eight hits and two errors. 

Elam Faust was 1-for-3 with a run and one hit, starting the game as the lead-off batter. 

Josiah Burns was 1-for-3 with a double, one run, two RBI and a walk. Christian Flowers was 1-for-2 with a double, one run, one RBI and a walk. 

Trevor Niehaus finished with a walk, Braedon West scored a run and forced a walk. Austin Bell had one run and one RBI, and Isaac Eyre scored one run. Cody Bell also scored a run and had one RBI. 

Elam Faust (two) and Burns each had steals. 

Four players for the Mustangs each pitched in the game, as Wells went 2.1 innings, allowing three earned runs on four hits and two walks. Max Baker allowed one earned run on a walk with no outs recorded. 

Flowers allowed one unearned run on three hits, three walks in 3.2 innings. Eyre pitched one inning, allowing one unearned run on one hit and no walks. 

LCHS is now 8-7 overall.
