Mustangs fall to Oak Hill in sectional finals

The Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs had their 2023 season come to a close on Thursday night (May 18), as they lost to Oak Hill in the Division III SE District Sectional Finals by a 4-0 score at Oak Hill High School.

LCHS was held to one hit in the loss, with that hit coming off the bat of Austin Bell, who finished 1-for-3. Asher Faust forced two walks, and Isaac Eyre also forced a walk.

Oak Hill scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth for a 3-0 score. In the fifth inning, they scored one final run.

For the game, Oak Hill totaled eight hits and had one error, while the Mustangs had two errors.

Cole Wells pitched six innings, allowing four runs (three runs) on eight hits and one walk. Wells totaled three strikeouts.

LCHS ends the season at 9-14 overall.
