Mustangs fall to non-conference foe Western Brown

Facing non-conference foe Western Brown on Monday, the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs were defeated by the Broncos at home by a 5-3 score.
Western Brown led 2-0 after the first inning as they had a two-run top of the first inning. They added two more runs in the top of the third and one run in the fourth for a 5-0 lead.
LCHS scored one run in the bottom of the fifth and two runs in the seventh inning.
The Broncos collected nine hits and committed three errors. LCHS had eight hits and two errors.
Elam Faust finished 2-for-4, and teammate Tanner Roberts also had two hits at 2-for-3.
Quin Wells went 1-for-2 with a triple, a SAC fly, an HBP, a steal, one run and two RBI.
Kristian Beachy was 1-for-3 (a double) with one RBI and an HBP. Trevor Niehaus finished 1-for-3, while Aric Slack was 1-for-3 with a run. Luke Davis scored one run.
Niehaus pitched 4.1 innings with four strikeouts, and Beachy pitched 2.2 innings with no earned runs and two strikeouts.
LCHS now stands at 7-0 in the SHAC Division I standings (first place) and 10-3 overall.
Next for LCHS is a SHAC game Thursday, April 23 at West Union with a 5 p.m. start.
