Mustangs fall to Manchester in SHAC road game
On Tuesday, Jan. 16, the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs lost a Southern Hills Athletic Conference game to the host Manchester Greyhounds by a 54-46 score.
LCHS trailed by a 12-5 score after the first quarter, and after another 12-5 score, it was Manchester leading 24-10 at halftime.
The second half saw Manchester lead the third frame at 17-15, and in the fourth, LCHS won the quarter at 21-18.
Eight LCHS players scored points in the conference loss, as Austin Bell led the way with 18 points, as he made four 3-pointers and three two-point baskets.
Cody Bell was next with 14 points, making two 3-pointers, three two-point baskets and he was 2-of-4 from the free-throw line.
The remainder of the Mustangs’ scoring included Braedon West (4),Jay Cordrey (2), Peyton Greene (2), Trevor Niehaus (2), Cairen Goings (2) and Josiah Burns (1).
As a team, LCHS totaled 10 two-point baskets, six 3-pointers and they were 8-of-14 from the free-throw line.
LCHS committed 16 turnovers, and Manchester committed 20 turnovers.
For the Greyhounds, their top two scorers for the game were Parker Hayslip with 14 points and Drew Kennedy with 13 points.
