Mustangs fall to EHS in season opener

The Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs had a slow start in their season opener Friday night (Dec. 1) at Eastern High School, falling to the host Warriors, 63-40 in the Southern Hills Athletic Conference opener.

LCHS trailed 20-0 at the end of the first quarter, and following a 16-15 second frame in favor of Eastern, the Mustangs went into halftime trailing 36-15.

Both team finished the third quarter scoring 15 points each, leaving Eastern with 51 points and Lynchburg-Clay with 30 points.

Eastern led the final frame at 12-10 for the 23-point win over Eastern.

For the Mustangs, the duo of Cody Bell and Denver Clinton led the way with 11 points each. Bell made three 3-pointers, plus he collected three rebounds and three steals.

Braedon West totaled five points, Austin Bell and Asher Faust each finished with four points, James Massey ended the game with three points and Cairen Goings totaled two points.

Eastern was led in scoring by Grady Barber with 15 points and Drew Edmisten with 14 points.

The loss sends LCHS to an 0-1 record in the SHAC and 0-1 overall. Eastern moves to 1-0 overall and in the SHAC.
