The Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs completed their 2024 Southern Hills Athletic Conference schedule on Tuesday (May 7) by defeating the Manchester Greyhounds, 6-0 at Manchester High School.

The Mustangs earned the win behind a no-hitter from Cole Wells, who pitched all seven innings, allowed no hits and no runs, had three walks and struck out 13 batters in the win. Wells threw 93 pitches, 63 for strikes.

LC’s win leaves the Mustangs at 11-2 in the SHAC Division I standings, as they now have to wait for the Eastern Warriors who are 11-1 in the SHAC to see where they’ll finish in the standings, as EHS has one game remaining. EHS plays their final SHAC game on Saturday, May 11 at Ripley, who are 0-12 in conference play.

LCHS totaled 10 hits in the win, with Elam Faust finishing 2-for-4 with two runs, and Wells going 2-for-3 with two RBI, as one of his hits was a triple.

Josiah Burns was 1-for-3 with one run and a walk, while Trevor Niehaus was 1-for-4 with two runs.

Braedon West finished 1-for-3 with one run, and he collected an RBI. The Mustangs also saw Austin Bell go 1-for-4 with one RBI, while Isaac Eyre was 1-for-3.

LCHS also had Cody Bell force a walk. Faust and Burns were each credited with a steal.

The Mustangs are now 13-7 overall, with the aforementioned 11-2 SHAC Div. I record.
