Mustangs baseball defeats Westfall; shut out by Washington
On Monday, May 8, the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs defeated the host Westfall Mustangs, 7-3 in a non-conference game.
LCHS scored two runs in the top of the second, then added two more runs in the fourth and had a three-run sixth inning. The Westfall Mustangs scored a run in the bottom of the first, a run in the fifth and two runs in the seventh.
In all, LCHS totaled five hits and had zero errors, while Westfall had seven hits and three errors.
Luke Smith led Lynchburg-Clay at 2-for-3 with two runs and a walk. Braedon West was 1-for-4, Asher Faust went 1-for-3 (one run) and Isaac Eyre was 1-for-3 (one RBI).
Cole Wells walked once, Austin Bell scored two runs and drew a walk, and Cody Bell scored two runs and had a walk.
The winning pitcher was Wells, pitching six innings, allowing four earned runs on seven hits and three walks, plus he had nine strikeouts.
Brayden Oberrecht finished with one inning pitched, allowing no hits, runs or walks.

On Tuesday, May 9 the LCHS Mustangs lost on the road to the Washington Blue Lions, 10-0 in six innings.
Washington scored one run each in the first, third, fourth and sixth innings, plus scored three runs in both the second and fifth innings, as they totaled 10 hits in the win over the Mustangs.
LCHS had one hit and five errors.
Luke Smith has the lone hit for the Mustangs, going 1-for-2 in the non-conference game.
The win on Monday and loss on Tuesday move LCHS to 8-13 overall this season.
