Lynchburg-Clay earns SHAC softball victory over Ripley

On Thursday (April 27), the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs defeated the Ripley Lady Blue Jays in softball action by a 3-1 score.

In the road Southern Hills Athletic Conference game, the Lady Mustangs scored all three of their runs in the top of the first inning. Ripley scored their lone run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Both teams finished with six hits each, and LCHS committed four errors.

Noel Barnhill went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Caitlyn Collins was 1-for-3 with a run and one RBI, and her hit was a double. Kami Collins finished 1-for-2 with a run, one HBP and a steal. Autumn Griffith was 1-for-3.

Also for the Lady Mustangs, Madison Baker had a steal, Miranda Smith scored a run and Rylee Turner had a steal.

Barnhill was the winning pitcher, going all seven innings, allowing one unearned run on six hits and no walks. She totaled 11 strikeouts for the win.

The win moves LCHS to 8-4 in the SHAC and 10-7 overall.
