The Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs earned their ninth and 10th wins of the 2025 season this past Thursday and Saturday by defeating the West Union Lady Dragons, followed by a weekend win against Zane Trace.

LCHS trailed by a 2-1 score after the first inning in a game played at LCHS on Thursday, April 17 as WUHS scored two runs to open the Southern Hills Athletic Conference contest, but eventually LCHS defeated the Lady Dragons, 10-8.

When the bottom of the third inning arrived for the Lady Mustangs, that’s where they took the lead, with Lynchburg-Clay scoring eight runs in the bottom of the inning for a 9-2 advantage. They added one final run in the bottom of the fifth for their 10-run total, but West Union had other plans.

The Lady Dragons made the game interesting, as LCHS had to fend off the hard-charging Lady Dragons squad, as WUHS scored one run in the top of the sixth, then got within two runs of LCHS with a five-run seventh inning.

LCHS out-hit the Lady Dragons 16-9, while WUHS had three errors and Lynchburg-Clay finished with two errors.

Having a three-hit game was Reese Ruble, who was 3-of-4 for the game. She also had two RBI and scored a run. One of her three hits was a double.

Five Lynchburg-Clay players had two hits each, as leadoff hitter Audrey Barry was 2-of-4 with a double, two runs and two RBI.

Avery Blankenship ended her day at 1-for-3 with a run, and Caraline West was 1-for-1.

LCHS also had Baylee McClain finish 1-for-2 with one run, a steal and one walk. Lily Ferguson finished the game with a stolen base.

Roberts was the winning pitcher, as she allowed four earned runs on nine hits and no walks, with six strikeouts. Roberts pitched all seven innings, totaling 83 pitches, 68 for strikes.
