Lynchburg-Clay earns run-rule victories over Ripley, West Union as Barnhill tosses a no-hitter; falls to Unioto and Valley

In their past four games from Tuesday through Saturday, the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs won two games in Southern Hills Athletic Conference action, but fell in two non-conference games.

The SHAC wins were against Ripley and West Union on Tuesday and Wednesday, but the losses came on Tuesday and Saturday to Valley and Unioto. 

Starting on Tuesday (April 21) the Lady Mustangs lost to the Valley Lady Indians by a 12-6 score at Valley High School in Lucasville. 

The non-conference game included LCHS scoring three runs in the top of the fourth inning, then tying the score at 3-3 as Valley scored two runs in the bottom of the first and one run in the third inning. 

The top of the fifth saw Lynchburg-Clay break the tied score with a two-run inning, but the bottom of the inning saw VHS score five runs in the bottom of the fifth for a 8-5 score in favor of the home team Lady Indians. 

The bottom of the sixth saw Valley score four runs for the final 12-6 score. Valley finished the contest with 11 hits and one error, while the Lady Mustangs totaled nine hits and had five errors. 

Sadie Kuipers finished the game with a 4-for-4 game with one run, a double, two steals and two RBI. 

Kami Collins finished the game at 1-for-4 with a steal. Aubrey Roberts ended the game at 1-for-2 with two runs, two walks and a steal. Sophia Michael finished the contest at 1-for-4 with a run and a steal. 

Audrey Barry ended the day at 1-for-3 with a run, one RBI, one steal and a walk. Reese Ruble was 1-for-2 with a walk.

Noel Barnhill ended the game with a steal, one run and a walk. Kendra Doss also had a steal, plus she added one RBI and a walk. 

Pitching for LCHS were Barnhill and Roberts. Barnhill pitched four innings with three earned runs allowed with seven strikeouts. Roberts pitched two innings with no earned runs and one strikeout. 

EJ Vice led Valley at 3-for-4 with two runs, one RBI and a triple.

Wednesday (April 23) the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs rebounded with a 14-4 five-inning victory over the Ripley Lady Blue Jays at LCHS.

The SHAC victory saw LCHS score seven runs in the bottom of the first inning, and from there they added one run in the bottom of the second, and another run in the third. RHS scored two runs in both the second and third innings for a 9-4 Lady Mustangs lead. 

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Lynchburg-Clay scored five runs for the final 14-4 score. 

LCHS finished the game with 13 hits and one error, while the Lady Blue Jays totaled four hits and four errors. 

Four Lynchburg-Clay players each had two hits, including Noel Barnhill who hit two home runs as she was 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. 

Kami Collins at 2-for-2 with one run. Aubrey Roberts finished 2-for-3 with one run, one RBI and a triple.

Kylee Tong was 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI and a double. 

Reese Ruble also hit a home run in the win, going 1-for-2 with two runs, two RBI and one walk.

Jazmine Brown finished 1-for-3 with a run. Also for LCHS, Kendra Doss went 1-for-1 with a steal. Sophia Michael ended the day at 1-for-2 with one run, a hit by pitch and a steal. Caraline West finished 1-for-3 with a run and one RBI. LCHS had Audrey Barry score a run, while Everleigh Barry scored a run and was hit by a pitch. 

Roberts was the winning pitcher, going three innings in the circle with three earned runs on four hits and no walks with five strikeouts. Doss pitched two innings where she allowed no earned runs on no hits and no walks with three strikeouts.

In a SHAC game on Thursday, April 23, the Lady Mustangs defeated West Union on the road by a 15-0 score in six innings at WUHS as senior pitcher Noel Barnhill pitched a no-hitter. 

LCHS scored two runs in the top of the first and followed that with four runs (second inning), one run (fifth inning) and eight runs (sixth inning). LCHS totaled 18 hits and no errors. 

Noel Barnhill pitched a no-hitter for the Lady Mustangs as she went six innings in the circle where she allowed no hits with no runs and two walks. Barnhill had 15 strikeouts in the win. 

Kendra Doss finished 3-for-4 with four runs and two doubles. Also with three hits was Jazmine Brown, who was 3-for-4 with two triples, two runs and two RBI. 

At the plate, Barnhill was 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, four RBI and a sacrifice fly.

Everleigh Barry was 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Reese Ruble finished 2-for-4 with a run, a double and four RBI. Aubrey Roberts was 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. 

Kami Collins ended the game at 1-for-3 with a triple and a run. Teammate Baylee McClain was 1-for-1. Sophia Michael went 1-for-1 with an RBI, a double and a walk. Audrey Barry finished 1-for-3 with two RBI and a walk. Caraline West scored two runs, had a steal and forced two walks. Kylee Tong also scored a run.

LCHS was back on the softball diamond on Saturday (April 25) as they hosted the Unioto Lady Shermans for a 6-3 non-conference loss. 

The Lady Shermans scored their first three runs in the top of the third, fifth and sixth innings. They won the game with a three-run eighth inning. LCHS finished with one run in the bottom of the third and two runs in the bottom of the seventh, which forced extra innings. 

Unioto totaled 10 hits and two errors, while Lynchburg-Clay had nine hits and five errors. 

Reese Ruble had a three-hit game at 3-for-3 with two runs, a double, a HBP and one steal. 

Noel Barnhill finished 2-for-4 with a double. 

Audrey Barry was 1-for-2 with two RBI and a walk, as her hit was a double and she hit a SAC fly. 

Jazmine Brown ended the game at 1-for-4, while teammate Kendra Doss was 1-for-4 with a double. Kylee Tong also had a hit at 1-for-3 with one run, one RBI and a triple. 

Barnhill pitched all eight innings where she allowed three earned runs with eight strikeouts.

In the April 23rd game against Ripley. Barnhill went 2 for 2 with 2 HR a Grand slam and 2 run HR. Total of 6 RBI
