LCHS softball defeats Eastern on Tuesday; falls to Bethel-Tate on Wednesday
For a second consecutive day, the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs faced the Eastern Lady Warriors, where they gained a second straight SHAC win by defeating the Lady Warriors at EHS by a 5-4 score Tuesday.
On Monday, Lynchburg-Clay defeated Eastern 5-2.
The Tuesday win by the Lady Mustangs consisted of scoring their five runs in three innings, with a two-run top of the first, a two-run top of the second and one final run in the top of the sixth.
Eastern scored a run in the bottom of the third, one run in the sixth and two final runs in the bottom of the seventh, as LCHS fended off the late rally by the Lady Warriors.
LCHS out-hit Eastern, 8-2, while each team committed two errors apiece.
Sophia Michael finished the game 3-for-3 with a run.
Autumn Griffith was 2-for-4 with a run scored and three RBI, as she hit a home run and a double.
Caitlyn Collins went 1-for-3 with two runs, a walk and one RBI.
Also with hits were Avery Blankenship at 1-for-3, and Madison Baker, who was also 1-for-3. The Lady Mustangs also had Madison McMullen and Noel Barnhill forcing a walk.
Steals were collected by Blankenship, Collins and Baker.
Barnhill pitched 4.2 innings, allowing one run (unearned) on three hits and one walk with four strikeouts. Jazmine Brown went 2.1 innings in the circle, allowing three runs (two runs) on one hit and two walks with one strikeout.

Wednesday, April 24 was a day where the Lady Mustangs hosted Bethel-Tate, falling by a 14-4 core in six innings.
The run-rule loss saw LCHS trailed 5-1 after the first inning, and from there BTHS took a 7-1 lead with a two-run second inning. LCHS scored two runs in the top of the third, while Bethel-Tate scored a run in the bottom of the third.
BTHS scored two more runs in the bottom of the fourth, and in the seventh the Lady Mustangs were outscored 4-1.
LCHS collected four hits and had seven errors, Bethel-Tate had 16 hits and no errors.
Lynchburg-Clay had four players each have a hit, as Caitlyn Collins was 1-for-1 with a double, two runs, one RBI and a walk. Madison Baker was 1-for-1 with one run.
Sophia Michael went 1-for-3, and Reese Ruble finished 1-for-2 with a double, and a run. Madison McMullen collected one RBI. Baker and Collins each had a steal.
Brown was charged with the loss, allowing six earned runs and totaled five strikeouts.
