Lady Mustangs win with dominant effort vs. West Union

For the second time in three tries this season, the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs left the court with a win, this time defeating the visiting West Union Lady Dragons, 70-18 on Monday night.

The convincing Southern Hills Athletic Conference win by LCHS saw them dominate early with a 22-9 first frame and a 28-4 second quarter for a halftime lead of 50-13. The second half saw the Lady Mustangs continue to add to their lead with an 11-3 third quarter and 9-2 fourth frame for the 52-point win.

Jade Massey led all scorers with 20 points, as the senior made eight two-point baskets, one 3-pointer and was 1-of-2 from the free-throw line. She also added to her overall totals with five rebounds, three assists, seven steals and one block.

Macy Etienne totaled 19 points with three 3-pointers, three two-point buckets, and she was 4-of-5 from the free-throw line. Etienne also had four rebounds and one assist.

Addison West didn’t disappoint either, collecting a double-double in the SHAC win. West totaled 12 points (four two-point baskets, 4-of-5 from the free-throw line) with 10 rebounds. She also added six assists, three steals and two blocks.

LCHS also had scoring from Madison McMullen with nine points, and she collected seven rebounds, while teammate Ella Barry had three points and grabbed five rebounds. Also for the Lady Mustangs in the scoring column, Adilyn Carraher scored three points, and with two points each were Avery Shope and Joslyn Rockey.

As a team, LC totaled 37 rebounds, 16 assists, 15 steals and three blocks and committed 14 turnovers.

The win sends LCHS to an overall record of 2-1, with a SHAC mark of 2-0.
