Lady Mustangs suffer one-run loss to Fayetteville
Going on the road for their Monday (April 29) Southern Hills Athletic Conference game at Fayetteville, the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs suffered a 3-2 loss on the softball diamond.
LCHS held a 2-1 lead after the top of the fourth where they scored their two runs, as Fayetteville scored their first run of the game in the bottom of the second. The Lady Rockets tied the score in the bottom of the fourth and took the lead with the go-ahead run in the bottom of the fifth inning for the one-run win.
Lynchburg-Clay ended the game with two hits and one error, while the Lady Rockets had four hits and three errors.
Caitlyn Collins was 1-for-3 with one run, as her hit was a double. Also with a hit was Noel Barnhill at 1-for-3 with one RBI. Sophia Michael collected one run in the loss for the Lady Mustangs.
Barnhill pitched six innings, allowing three runs (one earned) on four hits and one walk, as she also struck out six batters.
The loss still keeps LCHS in first place in the SHAC Division I standings, with a 7-4 conference record and 9-9 overall record.
