Lady Mustangs score 8 runs in win over Manchester

Monday evening the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs earned an impressive Southern Hills Athletic Conference road win by defeating the Manchester Lady Greyhounds 8-2 at MHS. 

LCHS led 6-0 after two innings with a two-run top of the first and four runs in the second. 

MHS scored their only two runs in the bottom of the third for a 6-2 score, but from there the Lady Mustangs scored one run in the top of the fifth and one final run in the top of the seventh inning. 

After the dust settled, the Lady Mustangs collected 16 hits and committed four errors, and the Lady Greyhounds had six hits and one error. 

Kendra Doss had the biggest hit of the game with a home run as she was 2-for-2 with three runs and two RBI. She also collected a walk, hit a double, was hit by a pitch, and she also had two steals. 

Jazmine Brown for Lynchburg-Clay was 3-for-4 with three RBI and a steal with one of her three hits was a double. 

Noel Barnhill ended the day at 3-for-3 with a double and a HBP. Barnhill was also the winning pitcher as she pitched all seven innings, allowing two earned runs on six hits and one walk with five strikeouts. She finished the game with 128 pitches, 92 for strikes. 

Audrey Barry was 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, a walk and two steals. Aubrey Roberts finished the win at 2-for-4 as she collected a run, one RBI, one walk and two steals. 

Sadie Kuipers finished at 1-for-3 and collected one run. Everleigh Barry went 1-for-1, while teammate Kami Collins was 1-for-4. Kylee Tong was 1-for-4 with one run with a steal. 

Six Manchester players had one hit each (Addilyn Hunter, Elliana Applegate, Bristynn McClanahan, Mahayla Brown, Peyton Hayslip and Hayven Newland). 

LCHS now stands at 2-3 in the SHAC Division I standings and 5-5 overall.
