Lady Mustangs pick up SHAC victory over Eastern

It was a big win for the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs on Friday night as they earned a Southern Hills Athletic Conference softball win over the visiting Eastern Warriors, 3-2.

Eastern led 1-0 after the second inning, and the score was tied at 1-1 in the bottom of the fifth following a run scored by the Lady Mustangs. Next, Eastern took a one-run lead with a run crossing home plate for a 2-1 lead.

In the bottom of the sixth, the Lady Mustangs took the lead by scoring two runs for the final 3-2 lead.

Eastern finished with nine hits and committed one error, while the Lady Mustangs finished with five hits and had one error.

Noel Barnhill led LCHS at 2-for-3 with one run, two RBI and hit a home run.

Avery Blankenship was hit by a pitch, and Samantha Merry scored a run.

Caitlyn Collins went 1-for-3 with a run, Brya McClain finished 1-for-3 with a double and one RBI and Samantha McKinney went 1-for-3.

Barnhill was the winning pitcher, finishing with seven innings in the circle allowing two runs (one earned) on two runs and two walks. She ended the game with 10 strikeouts.
