Lady Mustangs lose 2 home games to Eastern and Minford

The Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs recently lost a Southern Hills Athletic Conference game to the Eastern Lady Warriors, and that was followed by a weekend loss to the Minford Lady Falcons, both at home.

On Wednesday, Jan. 15, the Lady Mustangs lost their SHAC contest to the Eastern Lady Warriors by a 54-35 score.

In the SHAC game, LCHS trailed Eastern 8-5 after the first quarter, then in the second it was a 12-2 difference with EHS winning the frame, putting the Lady Warriors ahead 20-7 at halftime.

The second half saw LCHS win the quarter at 15-14, but the fourth quarter saw the Lady Warriors win the frame at 20-13 to secure the win over LCHS.

Eastern was led in scoring by Tabby Schumacher with 19 points, followed by Sophia Uhl with 15 points. The remainder of Eastern’s scoring included Lilly Yuppa (six), Alyssa Johnson (five), Vivian Grimes (five) and Olivia Uhl (four).

Eastern (7-2, 12-5) finished the game with 19 two-point baskets, two 3-pointers and they were 10-of-18 from the free-throw line.

Lynchburg-Clay was led in scoring by Savannah Bell with 11 points as she made two two-point baskets, two 3-pointers, and she was 1-of-2 from the free-throw line.

Joslyn Rockey finished with eight points, ending the game with two two-point baskets and she was 4-of-4 from the free-throw line.

LCHS also had six points from Adilyn Carraher as she was 6-of-6 from the free-throw line, and Madison McMullen totaled four points with two baskets. Ava McLaughlin ended the game with three points as she made a two-point basket and a free throw, while Lily Ferguson also totaled three points with three made free throws.

Team totals for LCHS included seven two-point baskets, two made 3-pointers, and they were 15-of-22 from the free-throw line.

LCHS also had 20 rebounds, three assists, seven steals and one block. Eastern totaled 35 rebounds, 14 assists, nine steals, and three blocks.

Saturday, Jan 18 saw the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs fall to the Minford Lady Falcons 67-39 in a non-conference game played at LCHS.

Minford led 17-6 after the first quarter ended, then after MHS outscored LCHS 15-8, it was the Lady Falcons leading at half-time by a 32-14 score.

In the second half, Minford scored 22 points in the third quarter and 13 points in the fourth frame. LCHS scored 16 points in the third and nine points in the final frame.

The Lady Mustangs were led in the scoring column by Adilyn Carraher with 16 points, making one two-point field goal, four 3-pointers and she was 2-of-2 from the free-throw line.

Lily Ferguson totaled seven points with two made baskets, and she was also 3-of-4 from the free-throw line.

Joslyn Rockey ended with five points, making a two-point basket and 3-pointer. Madison McMullen totaled five points with two baskets and a made free throw.

Allie Waits ended the game with four points (making two baskets), and Ava McLaughlin totaled two points with a basket.

LCHS as a team finished with nine two-point baskets, five 3-pointers, and they were 6-of-8 from the free-throw line. Lynchburg-Clay also had 18 rebounds, 10 assists and six steals.

After the two recent games, LCHS now stands at 6-9 overall, and in the SHAC Division II standings they are 3-6.
