Lady Mustangs fall to NAHS, defeat Whiteoak

On Monday, Sept. 21, the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs lost against the host North Adams Lady Green Devils in Southern Hills Athletic Conference volleyball action in three consecutive sets.
North Adams won the three sets played by scores of 25-19, 25-21 and 25-23.
The battle between two of the top teams in the SHAC saw LCHS have senior Addy Carraher finish with two kills, 22 assists, three aces and six digs. Junior Hydee Green finished the match with one kill, one assist, one ace and two digs.
Senior Halle Greene of LCHS finished with six kills, one assist, four aces and 28 digs. Lynchburg-Clay also had freshman Becca McLaughlin total two kills. Senior Kylie O’Connor in the match had 11 kills, 11 digs and a block.
LCHS junior Bre Rosselott finished with four kills, and a dig. Senior Melany Stephenson had one kill, one assist, one ace and 23 digs. LC senior Jules Vesey finished with one kill, two aces and seven digs.
As a team the Lady Mustangs finished with 28 kills, 25 assists, 11 aces, 78 digs and one block. North Adams’ team totals included 42 kills, 40 assists, three aces, 77 digs and 15 blocks.
Ava Pistole and Sophia Barlow each led NAHS with 13 kills, while the assists leader was Elizabeth Raines with 18. Morgan Wheeler led North Adams with two aces, and the digs leader was Emma Pistole with 19. Barlow also led North Adams with nine blocks.
The next day on Tuesday, Sept. 22 the Lady Mustangs of Lynchburg-Clay defeated the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats in three consecutive sets by scores of 25-7, 25-12 and 25-12.
In this match, Carraher totaled 26 assists, three aces and six digs. Green finished with two kills, one assist and one dig. Greene had eight kills, one assist, one ace and nine digs.
Also against WHS, McLaughlin collected one kill, one assist and one dig. O’Connor finished with 10 kills, three aces and seven digs. The Lady Mustangs also had Rosselott end the match with totals that included five kills, one dig and one block.
Stephenson finished the contest with one kill, five aces and nine digs. Vesey ended with one ace and one dig. Junior Charlee Wildey had two kills and one ace in the win over Whiteoak.
LCHS totals included 29 kills, 29 assists, 14 aces, 35 digs and one block.
The two matches leave the Lady Mustangs with an overall record of 10-2 with a SHAC mark of 6-1.
