Lady Lions score 11 runs in win over Lynchburg-Clay
Eleven runs on 11 hits by the Fairfield Lady Lions were more than enough on Thursday afternoon, as they went on the road for their Southern Hills Athletic Conference game against the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs, winning by an 11-5 score.
FHS scored runs in four different innings, while LCHS scored all five of their runs with a three-run first and two-run seventh inning. In all for LCHS, they totaled four hits and committed two errors. FHS committed three errors in the win.
Katelyn Chambliss finished 3-for-4 for the Lady Lions, scoring two runs and having one RBI. One of her three hits was a double, and she also had a steal.
Carly Sanders finished 2-for-3 with one run and two RBI.
Having one hit each for FHS were Jobey Hattan (one run), Sydney Hooper (one run, one RBI, two walks), Ally Maynard (one run, one RBI), Caitlyn Quickle (two runs, two RBI, one double, one walk), Rilee Quickle and Emmi Vance (two runs, two RBI, one home run and one walk).
LCHS totaled four hits with Caitlyn Collins and Madison McMullen (home run) each having one hit, while Noel Barnhill finished 2-for-3.
Runs for LCHS were scored by Jazmine Brown, Collins, Autumn Griffith, Madison Baker and McMullen.
Barnhill was charged with the loss in the circle. She allowed six runs (four earned) on seven hits and two walks, totaling six strikeouts in five innings. Brown pitched two two innings for LCHS, finishing with five runs allowed (four earned) with three walks and four hits. She struck out a total of two batters.
The win moves FHS to 2-1 overall and 2-0 in the SHAC. This was the season opener for LCHS, as they are now 0-1 in the SHAC and overall.
