Fairfield, Whiteoak track and field athletes move on to regionals

Track and field athletes from Lynchburg-Clay, Fairfield and Whiteoak competed in the Division III district meet at Nelsonville-York May 17 and 19, as the Fairfield Lady Lions team led the way for Highland County with a third-place finish.
The Lady Lions totaled 57.5 points for third place, while LC and Whiteoak tied for 22nd. The girls event was won by Dawson-Bryant with 117 points, followed by Adena in second.
On the boys side, Rock Hill won with 85.5 points, while Nelsonville-York was second with 73.5 points. Whiteoak was seventh with 35 points, and LC and Fairfield did not have full teams.
Whiteoak also had one individual district champion in Landen Eyre, who won the 1600m run with a time of 4:25.0.
