Fairfield girls finish district runners-up; Lynchburg-Clay, Whiteoak compete at district meets 

The Fairfield Lady Lions finished as 2026 Division V District runners-up in track and field following the completion of the two-day event on Saturday, May 23 at Nelsonville-York High School. 

The Fairfield girls had three district championships, with two from Meri Jackson (shot put, discus) and one from Remi Moon (high jump). Jackson won the discus event with a distance of 117-0 and a distance of 39-8 in the shot put. Moon had a jump of 5-2 in the high jump event. 

Fairfield’s team score was 111 for the runner-up spot. The FHS girls also had five runner-up finishes, with three from Vivian Henninger and two from relay teams (4x200-meter and 4x800m). 

Whiteoak’s 4x800m relay team of Kennadi Storms, Sofia Juarez, Natalie Burnett and Gabriella Howard had a championship time of 11:21.5.

The Fairfield boys had Mason Lightle win a district championship in the 200m dash with a time of 23.15. 

In Division IV at Albany Alexander High School, the Lynchburg-Clay boys had a district runner-up in the 1600m run as Kyler Fite had a time of 4:31.63.

In all, between the three schools there were a total of 27 events that had either an individual regional qualifier or a regional qualifying team in Division IV or V.
