15 Highland County baseball, softball players named All-SHAC

The Southern Hills Athletic Conference announced Tuesday the 2024 All-SHAC baseball and softball teams, with Highland County having 15 players and one coach recognized this spring.

Nine Highland County baseball players earned All-SHAC honors, with three from each Highland County school. For Lynchburg-Clay, Christian Flowers, Cole Wells and Braedon West were honored. Fairfield had the trio of Gabe Fouch, Zane Matthews and Cade Miller selected. Whiteoak’s three honorees were Kaden Moon-Stone, Zander Roades and Eli Roberts.

On the softball team, Highland County had a total of six players selected, with Fairfield leading the way with three in Jobey Hattan, Caitlyn Quickle and Emmi Vance. Lynchburg-Clay had two honorees in Noel Barnhill and Autumn Griffith. Selected from Whiteoak was Jaylie Parr.

Highland County also had one Coach of the Year in Fairfield first-year head softball coach Ellen Binegar.

• Baseball: Luke Applegate, Manchester; Thomas Barnhart, Manchester; Easton Daulton, North Adams; Gage Grooms, Peebles; Wyatt Haupt, Eastern; Clayton Holden, Fayetteville; Drew Kennedy, Manchester; Pryce Murphy, Eastern; Wylee Sawyers, Eastern; and Carter Vaughn, Eastern. 

Coach of the Year: Steve Goetz, Eastern.

• Softball: Addi Arey, Eastern; Jenna Campbell, Manchester; Caydence Carroll, Peebles; Kenlee Finn, Peebles; Carlee Garrison, North Adams; Allie Grooms, Eastern; Kaelyn Musser, Peebles; Kenley Polston, Fayetteville; Mackenzie Stout, West Union; Izabella Waddle, Fayetteville; Ava Wells, Fayetteville; and Rylie Young, Manchester. 

Co-Coach of the Year (with Binegar): Kenneth Waddle, Fayetteville.
