Lady Indians wrap up regular season with win over Wilmington

The Hillsboro Lady Indians won their regular-season finale on Wednesday night (Feb. 7), as they won at home against the Wilmington Lady Hurricane, 51-48. 

The win moves Hillsboro to 11-11 overall, while Wilmington now stands at 10-10. 

For Hillsboro, Kobie Miles led the team in scoring with 12 points, making two two-point baskets, one 3-pointer and was 5-of-9 from the free-throw line. 

Also leading the team in scoring was Blake Herdman with 12 points, finishing with two 3-pointers, two two-point baskets and she was 2-of-4 from the free-throw line. 

Peighton Bledsoe finished with nine points, making four two-point baskets and a free throw. 

Tylee Davis finished with seven points, and also totaling seven points was Kyra Boyd. Davis totaled two two-point baskets and a 3-pointer, while Boyd sank one 3-pointer, one two-point basket and made two free throws. 

Scoring two points each were Rylie Scott and Addyson Miles. Scott’s points came from the free-throw line, and Miles sank one basket. 

As a team, the Lady Indians totaled 12 two-point baskets, five 3-pointers, and were 12-of-28 from the free-throw line. 

HHS also collected 25 rebounds, 14 steals, eight assists and they had 14 turnovers. Leading the team in rebounding was Herdman with nine, and the steals leader was Boyd with four. 

Next for HHS is a sectional tournament game on Saturday, Feb. 17 against the Jackson Ironladies at 6:15 p.m. at Chillicothe High School.
