Lady Indians win twice on Saturday

Saturday was twice as nice for the Hillsboro Lady Indians, with the varsity team winning two times over the weekend by defeating Logan Elm and Sheridan in non-conference games played in Circleville.
Hillsboro’s first win on Saturday (April 12) was a shutout, winning by a 7-0 score against the Logan Elm Lady Braves.
Hillsboro was the road team in the game, and they dominated the game by scoring runs in each of the first five innings played, starting with a two-run first inning. They followed that with one run in the second, then another two-run inning in the third. From there, the Lady Indians added a run in the fourth and equaled the feat in the fifth inning for their seven-run lead.
HHS ended the game with 11 hits and one error, while they kept Logan Elm to just one hit in the game. LEHS committed five errors in their loss.
Chloe Roberts ended the game at 3-for-4 with a triple, one run and one RBI. Also with three hits was Addie Huff, who was 3-for-3 with one run scored.
Camryn Spruell finished the game against Logan Elm at 2-for-4 with a double and triple, plus two runs and one RBI. Reagan Clemons (10) was 2-for-3 with one RBI and a steal. Also collecting steals were Isabelle Brunck (two) and Leah Vance.
Spruell was the winning pitcher, ending the game in the circle with seven innings pitched, allowing no runs on one hit and three walks. Spruell finished with eight strikeouts, finishing the game with 112 pitches.

In their second game of their day, the Lady Indians defeated Sheridan, 7-6, with Hillsboro holding off Sheridan in the final inning.
HHS and the Lady Generals of Sheridan each scored a run in the first inning for a 1-1 score, but Hillsboro took the lead with a run in the top of the second, then added another run in the top of the third. Sheridan responded with a run in the bottom of the third for a 3-2 score with HHS in the lead.
The Lady Indians scored four runs in the top of the fourth, but the Lady Generals were there with three runs of their own for a 7-5 score still in favor of HHS. Sheridan tried to make a comeback as they scored one run in the bottom of the seventh, but HS held on for the win.
In all for the Lady Indians, they had 10 hits and two errors, while the Lady Generals totaled three hits and three errors.
Three Hillsboro players combined for six of the their 10 hits with two hits apiece. Camryn Spruell finished 2-for-3 with her being a double and a triple, while adding two runs, three RBI, a steal and a walk. Isabelle Brunck was 2-for-4 with one RBI. Also with two hits was Reagan Clemons at 2-for-3 with one run and a steal.
Mylea Fridley was 1-for-4 with one run, and Meredith Dietrick went 1-for-3 with two runs and was hit by a pitch. Chloe Roberts finished 1-for-4 with a double, and Addie Huff went 1-for-2 with one run.
Spruell was also the winning pitcher, pitching the complete seven innings, allowing six runs (four earned) on three hits and six walks with 13 strikeouts. She ended the game with 131 pitches, 81 for strikes.
The win improves Hillsboro’s overall record to 9-1 this season.
