Lady Indians walk-off against Clinton-Massie; fall to Unioto

The Hillsboro Lady Indians earned a walk-off non-conference victory Friday evening (May 1) by a 6-5 score against the visiting Clinton-Massie Lady Falcons. 

The win came with HHS scoring two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, as the inning began with a four-pitch walk by Raeden Workman, followed by Workman taking second base on a wild pitch, then a walk from Paisley Zink. 

After consecutive outs were recorded via strikeouts, Rilynn Swisshelm forced a walk to load the bases. Chloe Roberts tied the game at 5-5 with a line drive hit to left field, scoring Workman from third base while advancing the runners. 

Next, the game ended with Addley Miller hitting a ball to left field, scoring Zink for the 6-5 walk-off victory. 

The game began with Clinton-Massie scoring the first run of the game in the top of the first, while HHS tied the score with a run in the bottom of the second for a 1-1 score. 

CMHS followed with two runs in the top of the third, but HHS answered with a two-run inning in the bottom of the fourth for a 3-3 score. In the bottom of the fifth, it was Hillsboro taking the lead with a run crossing the plate.

CMHS regained the lead with two runs in the top of the sixth for the 5-4 advantage, but HHS gained the win with the two go-ahead runs for the walk-off win. 

Hillsboro finished the game with eight hits and one error, while CMHS had nine hits and two errors. 

Swisshelm led HHS at the plate with a 3-for-3 game with one run, two RBI and two walks. 

Roberts finished the contest at 2-for-4 with one run, one RBI and a walk. Miller finished 1-for-4 with one RBI and a walk. Workman was 1-for-3 with two runs and a walk. Zink went 1-for-2 with two runs, a walk, a HBP and two steals. Conrad ended the game with two walks. 

Swisshelm pitched 5.2 innings with two strikeouts, while teammate Peyton Spurlock gained the win with 1.1 innings pitched, allowing no earned runs on one hit, no walks and two strikeouts.

On Monday (May 4) the Hillsboro Lady Indians fell to the visiting Unioto Lady Shermans, 11-5 in non-conference action. 
Each team had 10 hits in the game. 

Unioto was first to score, taking a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, but HHS responded with three runs in the bottom of the third for a 3-2 lead over Unioto. 

UHS came back with four runs in the top of the fourth, then they added four more runs in the top of the fifth. HHS scored a run in the bottom of the fifth for a 10-4 score in favor of UHS. Each team scored a run in the seventh inning. 

Chloe Roberts had a big game at the plate, smashing two home runs as she finished 2-for-4 with two runs and three RBI. 

HHS saw Peyton Spurlock finish 3-for-4 with one RBI. 

Rilynn Swisshelm was 1-for-4 with two runs. Emory Zornes was 1-for-3 with a HBP. Paisley Zink finished 1-for-2 with a steal. Blair Gard was 1-for-3, while teammate Leah Vance finished 1-for-3 with a run and a steal. 

Spurlock pitched five innings where she had one strikeout. Swisshelm pitched two innings, allowing one earned run with one strikeout.
