Lady Indians use 11-run inning to gain FAC victory over Washington for 3rd consecutive win
Wednesday evening at Hillsboro High School the Hillsboro Lady Indians earned their third consecutive victory of the season, winning against the Washington Lady Blue Lions by a 20-10 score in five innings.
The run-rule win by Hillsboro was their second win against Washington this week, as the scoring was fierce in the five innings played at HHS, with both teams scoring four runs in the first inning for a 4-4 score.
Washington took an 8-4 lead with another four-run inning in the top of the second, and HHS added one run in the bottom of the third for a three-run deficit.
Then came maybe the best inning of the season by the Lady Indians as they tacked on 11 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning for a 16-8 lead. Washington responded with two runs in the top of the fifth for a 16-10 score, but HHS ended the game with four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning for the 10-run win and run-rule FAC victory.
HHS totaled 19 hits and had one error, while Washington finished with 10 hits and three errors.
The Lady Indians had seven players with at least two hits each, and three of those players (Chloe Roberts, Emory Zornes and Paisley Zink) each had three hits.
The senior Roberts finished 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI and a hit by pitch.
Zornes went 3-for-4 with two runs, three RBI and a double.
Zink was 3-for-4 with one run and a double.
Rilynn Swisshelm finished the FAC game at 2-for-3 with four runs, one RBI and two walks. Addley Miller was 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, a double and a walk. Blair Gard went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Also with two hits was Harper Conrad at 2-for-3 with two runs, three RBI, a double and a walk.
Peyton Spurlock finished 1-for-3 with two runs, three RBI and a walk. Chloe Pierson was 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Spurlock was the winning pitcher with five innings pitched, six earned runs and six strikeouts as she threw 104 pitches for the FAC victory.
HHS now has an overall record of 3-12 with a FAC mark of 2-6.
