Lady Indians sweep Bethel-Tate in weekend DH
The Hillsboro Lady Indians traveled to face Bethel-Tate on Saturday afternoon, and they took care of business with two non-conference wins by scores of 12-2 and 7-6.
In game one (March 30), the Lady Indians won in six innings via the run-rule in their 12-2 win, with two runs in the first, one run in the third and they added three runs in the fourth inning. From there, they scored one run in the top of the fifth, and they scored five final runs in the top of the sixth inning.
Bethel-Tate scored their two runs in the bottom of the third inning.
HHS out-hit Bethel-Tate 13-6 in the game, and BTHS committed three errors, while HHS had zero errors.
Of the 13 hits by the Lady Indians, Camryn Spruell went 4-for-4 with four runs, three RBI and she hit a home run.
Addy Huff finished 2-for-4 with a double and one RBI.
Halle Reveal was 1-for-3 with one run and a steal, while Mylea Fridley finished 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Chloe Roberts finished the game at 1-for-3 with one run, a home run and two RBI.
Isabelle Brunck had stats of 1-for-4 with one run, one RBI and a steal against BTHS. Meredith Dietrick ended game one at 1-for-3 with two runs, one walk and two steals. Madison Dearmon was 1-for-3 with one RBI, a double and one walk.
HHS also saw Reagan Clemons finish 1-for-3 with a double, one run and a walk. Kayla Seeling collected a steal in the win.
In the circle, Spruell earned the win as she pitched six innings, allowing two earned runs on six hits, one walk, one home run and one HBP. Spruell finished with 13 strikeouts as she threw 87 pitches, 67 for strikes.

In game two of the Saturday doubleheader, HHS won by a 7-6 score, where they scored the go-ahead and eventual game-winning run in the top of the sixth inning against BTHS.
HHS scored four runs in the top of the second and followed that with a two-run fifth and the aforementioned one-run sixth inning.
In all for game two, the Lady Indians totaled nine hits and committed one error. Bethel-Tate had eight hits and no errors.
Fridley finished 3-for-3 with two runs, three RBI, one walk, one home run and three steals.
Dearmon ended the second game at 2-for-3 with a run.
Having one hit each were Reveal (1-for-2, two runs, one RBI, one walk and a HBP), Roberts (1-for-4, two RBI), Brunck (1-for-4) and Alex Magee (1-for-4).
Other players with stats for HHS included Spruell (two HBP, one steal), Chanel Captain (one run), Dietrick (one run) and Rilynn Swisshelm (one RBI).
The winning pitcher was Swisshelm, as she pitched five innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits and she had four strikeouts.
Spruell pitched two innings, allowing one run (none earned) on one hit with three strikeouts.
The two wins move Hillsboro to 5-1 overall.
