Indians shut out by Miami Trace
In Frontier Athletic Conference play Monday evening, the Hillsboro Indians hosted the Miami Trace Panthers, where they were shut out by the visitors by a 10-0 score in five innings.
MTHS totaled seven hits in the win and had three errors, while the Indians had three hits and five errors.
The Panthers scored three runs in the top of the first and followed that strong inning with consecutive one-run innings, a two-run fourth and another three-run inning in the top of the fifth.
Hillsboro’s three hits were off the bats of Jackson Cornele (1-for-1, two walks), Walker Pence (1-for-3) and Zach Burwinkel (1-for-1).
The Indians also had Ben Miller and Ashton Clemons each with a walk. Cornele also had a steal for HHS.
Burwinkel pitched four innings for the Indians, allowing seven runs (four earned) on five hits and two walks. He struck out four batters. Nate Lane pitched one inning, allowing three runs (two earned) on two hits and one walk.
HHS now stands at 1-14 overall and 0-7 in the FAC.
