Indians fall by 1 run against Batavia

Traveling to Batavia High School on Thursday (April 25), the Hillsboro Indians lost by one run to the host Bulldogs, falling by a 5-4 score in non-conference play. 

Hillsboro scored all four of their runs in the top of the second inning, ending the game with three hits, two walks and two errors. 

Batavia scored two runs in the bottom of the first, two more runs in the bottom of the second and one final run in the bottom of the sixth inning. For the game, the Bulldogs totaled four hits and committed zero errors. 

Zack Brown finished 1-for-4 with one RBI, as he was one of three Hillsboro players to record a hit in the game. Gavin Greer finished 1-for-3 with a run, and Ashton Clemons went 1-for-2 with one run. 

Brayden Hunter collected one RBI, and Walker Pence scored a run and forced two walks. 

Clemons, Hunter (two) and Wesley Bailey each were hit by a pitch. Nic Burns recorded a steal. 

Nate Lane pitched five innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on four hits and four walks. Hunter pitched one inning, allowing one run on no hits and no walks. 

The loss sends Hillsboro to a 1-16 overall record.
