Hillsboro's Camryn Spruell signs letter of intent to play softball at Div. I Ball State

Hillsboro High School senior Camryn Spruell has signed her national letter of intent to play softball at Ball State University in Muncie, Ind.

Spruell is the ace for a Lady Indians team that has won four consecutive Frontier Athletic Conference titles, 40 consecutive FAC games and two consecutive sectional titles.   

During her junior season, Spruell reached the 500-strikeout milestone for her career. She has been named All-FAC three times, FAC Player of the Year twice and All-Ohio twice. Spruell’s career at HHS also includes multiple perfect games and no-hitters.

For her junior season, Spruell finished with a 0.67 ERA, pitching 148.1 innings. She finished with 338 strikeouts, facing 554 batters and allowing just 14 earned runs, plus she had one save. Spruell also held opponents to a .123 batting average.

Spruell has been equally dominant at the plate, with stats from her junior season including batting .493 with 71 at-bats (94 plate appearances), collecting 33 runs, 35 hits, 41 RBI, six doubles, 11 home runs, a .617 OBP and 1.659 SLG.

Ball State is a Division I program that competes in the Mid-American Conference (MAC).
