Hillsboro stays undefeated with 4 wins in recent matches; improves to 7-0

On Wednesday (Aug. 20), the Hillsboro Lady Indians traveled to Eastern High School to take part in a three-team non-conference tri-match, where they won both times by defeating the host Eastern Lady Warriors and Blanchester Lady Wildcats by 2-0 scores. 

Hillsboro defeated Blanchester by scores of 25-5 and 25-6. 

HHS against Blanchester totaled 19 kills in the win, led by Tylee Davis with six, Ryan Wagoner with five and Riley Pence finished with four. HHS also had kills from Kayla Seeling (one), Marianne Mycroft (one) and Emmalee Young (two). 

The Lady Indians also totaled 15 aces with Allie Roush and Macy Fauber each with five, while Davis totaled four. Also with an ace was Pence with one. 

HHS also collected 15 digs with Wagoner totaling five, and she was followed by Roush and Davis with three each. Also collecting digs were Pence (one), Josie Rhoades (one) and Fauber (two). 

Hillsboro’s assist leader was Kayla Seeling with 15, as the team totaled 18 assists in the contest. Wagoner finished with one assist, while Roush totaled two. 

Hillsboro also had 11 service receptions, led by Wagoner with five, and next were Roush with three, Fauber with two and Young had one. 

Against Eastern the Lady Indians won with scores of 25-21 and 25-23. 

Hillsboro in the win over the Lady Warriors had 21 kills with Davis leading the way with nine, and she was followed by Wagoner with six. Also with kills were Pence (two), Seeling (two) and Young (two). 

The Lady Indians totaled eight aces in the non-conference victory over Eastern of the SHAC, as Wagoner had four, and next was Fauber with three, while Davis had one ace. 

Davis finished the Eastern contest with 10 digs to lead HHS. Also with digs were Pence (two), Wagoner (seven), Seeling (six), Roush (six), Rhoades (two), Mycroft (one), Young (one) and Fauber (four) as HHS totaled 39 for the game. 

Seeling was the assists leader with 19, and teammates Roush and Davis each had one assist. Service receptions were led by Wagoner with 13, as HHS totaled 35 in the match. Also with service receptions were Roush (eight), Davis (two), Rhoades (five), Young (one) and Fauber (six). 

Next was a match on Thursday, Aug. 21, where HHS traveled to North Adams High School and defeated the Lady Green Devils of the SHAC in five sets. 

HHS lost the first two sets by scores of 25-11 and 25-16, but rallied to make the comeback win with a set three score of 25-23, followed with a set four score of 25-16, and they won the fifth and match-deciding set at 15-11. 

Hillsboro ended the five-set win over North Adams with 50 kills, as Davis had 17 and Wagoner finished with 16. Young totaled nine kills in the win, while Pence had five and Seeling totaled three.

There were 14 aces by the Lady Indians against North Adams with Wagoner leading with four, and next was Seeling with three. Hillsboro also had two aces each from Pence and Davis, while Roush, Rhoades and Young each had one ace. 

HHS totaled two blocks, with Pence and Mycroft each having one. 

The Lady Indians finished with 83 digs in the non-conference showdown with Davis totaling 29, while Wagoner had 12, Seeling finished with 11, and Fauber totaled 10. There was also Pence with four digs, Roush with six, Rhoades with six, Mycroft totaled two digs, and Young had three digs. 

There were also 44 assists by the Lady Indians as Seeling led with 38. Roush totaled two assists, while having one assist each were Pence, Davis, Mycroft, and Fauber. 

Four HHS players finished with double-digit service receptions with those players being Wagoner (14), Roush (12), Davis (15), Rhoades (11), and Fauber (24). Also with service receptions were Mycroft (one) and Young (five). 

The next game for Hillsboro was another non-conference contest as they faced Clinton-Massie at CMHS for a four-set win on Saturday, Aug. 23. 

Hillsboro won sets one and two by scores of 25-17 and 25-23. HHS lost set three at 25-23, and won the match with a set four win of 25-17. 

The Lady Indians ended the four-set contest with 51 kills, six aces, 80 digs, 48 assists, and 69 service receptions. 

Davis continued to lead the Lady Indians in kills with 21, and next was Wagoner with 18. Hillsboro also had four kills each from Pence and Young, while Seeling finished with three and Mycroft totaled one kill. 

Three players each had two aces for Hillsboro and they were Wagoner, Seeling, and Young. 

Of the 80 digs collected by Hillsboro, Davis led with 24, and the remaining digs went to Wagoner (16), Roush (10), Rhoades (10), Fauber (10), Seeling (six), and Young (four). 

Seeling finished with 43 assists in the win, while Mycroft and Young each had two assists, and Wagoner had one assist. The service reception leader was Fauber with 22, and from there the service receptions totals included Wagoner (13), Davis (seven), Rhoades (seven), and Young (one).
