Hillsboro girls tennis defeats Miami Trace in FAC match

The Hillsboro Lady Indians stayed undefeated in the Frontier Athletic Conference on Thursday (Aug. 20) following their 4-1 tennis victory over the visiting Miami Trace Lady Panthers at the Hillsboro High School tennis courts. 

The first singles match was a winner for the Lady Indians as senior Adalyn Gaines earned the win over Miami Trace senior Keilyn Daugherty by scores of 6-0, 6-1. 

HHS earned a second singles win as well with junior Taylor-Ann Scruggs winning against Miami Trace senior Lizzy Turner at 6-2, 6-4. 

Hillsboro also earned doubles wins, with the first doubles team of senior Ciara Woods and junior Kamrie Lee winning by scores of 6-2, 6-1 over Miami Trace senior Emma Hagler and junior Josilin Steele. 

The Lady Indians’ second doubles team of sophomore Kaylin Branscom and Charlie Walch won over Miami Trace junior Kendall Bickett and sophomore Olivia McLaughlin at 6-0, 1-6, 6-4. 

The lone MT win was third singles with junior Taegan Wood defeating Hillsboro sophomore Breanna Anderson 6-0, 6-0. 

HHS is now 4-0 in the FAC for first place in the current standings with an overall record of 5-2. 

The Lady Indians are scheduled to play next on Saturday, Aug. 22 on the road at Minford at 9 a.m. in non-conference play.
