Hillsboro drops road game at Eastern

A non-conference game on Saturday (April 8) saw the Hillsboro Indians baseball team fall to the host Eastern Warriors, 9-0 in their seven-inning game. 

Eastern led early with four runs in the first two innings, as in each inning they scored two runs. From there, Eastern added three runs in the bottom of the third and then scored two more runs in the fourth. 

The Warriors totaled six hits and committed one error, and the Indians totaled five hits and had one error. 

Five players for Hillsboro had one hit each, with Zack Brown going 1-for-3 (a double), with Nate Lane also going 1-for-3. 

Ben Miller finished 1-for-1, while Walker Pence was 1-for-3 with a double. Also 1-for-3 was Gavin Greer. Drawing walks for HHS were Peyton Aber with two and Zach Burwinkel with one walk, while Aber also had a steal. 

Miller pitched five innings, allowing five earned runs on four hits and four walks, with five strikeouts. Logan Zurface pitched one inning, allowing two unearned runs, while allowing two hits and having three walks. Gavin Issacs pitched 2.1 innings, allowing no runs on no hits and one walk with three strikeouts. 

HHS is now 0-7 overall this season.
