Bowling: HHS sophomore Rylie Ison has milestone season as Div. I state runner-up

HILLSBORO — Hillsboro sophomore Rylie Ison had a season that won’t soon be forgotten on the bowling lanes, as she concluded her season this past March with a Division I Individual State Runner-Up finish.
Ison was the individual state runner-up for the 2025-26 Division I season with a score of 667, as her game scores at state were 212 (Game 1), 227 (Game 2) and 228 (Game 3). She trailed the eventual state champion by only 12 pins.
The individual leader for Hillsboro at districts was Ison with a score of 584, including game totals of 198, 183 and 203. Ison was also the individual district champion for the 2025-26 season.
At the Frontier Athletic Conference Tournament on Feb. 5 at LeElla Lanes in Washington Court House, Ison won the conference championship with a 375 total as she had game totals of 193 and 182, an average of 187.5.
During the ’25-26 season, from Nov. 14 through the end of the FAC tournament, Ison averaged a 210.2 score with 7,146 pins to her total in 34 games, including a series high of 484 on Nov. 24 at Highland Lanes against the Jackson Ironladies in FAC competition.
Other standout scores from the regular-season games included: Highland Lanes Preview (467 total) with game scores of 233 and 234 for an average of 233.5 to kickoff the season.
At Shawnee Lanes, Ison had a score of 419 in two games of 202 and 217. From there, at Highland Lanes Ison scored a 424 against Chillicothe (201, 226) on Nov. 20.
Next was the aforementioned match against Jackson with the 484 score, and from there it was the Royal Z Kickoff on Nov. 26 where in three games Ison totaled a score of 527 with games of 207, 182 and 138.
In December, Ison had scores of 465 (against Miami Trace at LeElla Lanes), 424 (vs. WCH at Highland Lanes), 406 (vs. Blanchester at HL), 439 (vs. McClain at HL), 458 (vs. Chillicothe at HL) and 478 (vs. Unioto at HL).
In January, Ison had scores of 212 (1 game at Jackson, LeElla Wellston), 345 (against Unioto at SL), 371 (against Blanchester at SL), 429 (against Washington at LE WCH), 223 (vs. McClain at HL 1 game), and 197 (vs. Miami Trace at HL 1 game) on Feb. 2.
As a member of the Lady Indians bowling team, she helped lead Hillsboro to a Frontier Athletic Conference regular-season championship as they were undefeated, a FAC Tournament championship, a Division I East/Southeast District championship and a third-place team finish in the state tournament.
