Wildcats shut out Hillsboro

The Whiteoak Wildcats defeated the Hillsboro Indians in non-conference baseball action by a 3-0 score on Wednesday, May 8 at Whiteoak High School. 

The Wildcats gained the win with one run scored in each of the first three innings played, totaling two hits in the win and committing two errors. Hillsboro totaled six hits and no errors. 

The two hits for Whiteoak were off the bats of Dakota Clift, who went 1-for-1, and Jonah Michael, who was 1-for-3. Clift finished with one run, one RBI, two walks and three steals. Michael totaled one run and a steal. 

Abraham Flader collected one RBI, Kaden Moon-Stone forced a walk, Zander Roades also forced a walk and Eli Roberts collected two walks. Others collecting steals for Whiteoak were Moon-Stone (two), Roades and Roberts. 

Moon-Stone was the winning pitcher, pitching all seven innings, allowing no runs, five hits and two walks. He also finished with seven strikeouts. 

For the Indians, Brayden Hunter was 1-for-3, Zack Brown went 2-for-3 and Nic Burns finished 2-for-3. 

Walker Pence and Zach Burwinkel each walked once.

Ashton Clemons pitched three innings, allowing three earned runs on two hits and four walks with two strikeouts. Burwinkel pitched three innings, allowing no runs on no hits and two walks with four strikeouts.
