Lady Mustangs defend home court in 3 sets
It took the minimum three sets for the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs to earn a Southern Hills Athletic Conference win on Wednesday, as they defeated the visiting Manchester Lady Greyhounds.
LCHS defeated Manchester by scores of 25-11, 25-15 and 25-14.
As a team the Lady Mustangs totaled 31 kills, 31 assists, 18 aces, 69 digs and six blocks. Manchester’s team totals were 12 kills, 14 assists, four aces, 45 digs and two blocks.
Leading in kills for LCHS Halle Greene with nine. Next was Avery Shope with six, and finishing with five was Matalyn Magee. Also collecting kills were Addy Carraher (four), Kylie O’Connor (four), Morgan Baker (one), Joslyn Rockey (one) and Melany Stephenson (one).
The Lady Mustangs were led in assists by Carraher with 15, and next was Ava McLaughlin with 10. Also collecting assists in the SHAC win for LCHS was Rockey with six.
Aces were big for the Lady Mustangs, as Rockey finished with six, and Shope collected five. Totaling two aces each were McLaughlin and O’Connor, and with one assist apiece were Ava Doughman, Carraher and Greene.
Rockey led the Lady Mustangs with 23 digs, while Carraher had 15. Others collecting digs for Lynchburg-Clay were Doughman (eight), Baker (six), Shope (five), McLaughlin (four), Greene (two) and Magee (two).
Greene was the blocks leader with three. Magee totaled two, and O’Connor had one block.

Fairfield wins in 3 sets over Ripley
Taking three sets to win their SHAC match on Wednesday, the Fairfield Lady Lions won on the road at Ripley against the Lady Blue Jays.
FHS defeated the host Ripley team by scores of 25-21, 25-16 and 26-24.
Fairfield had Jobey Hattan lead the team in kills with 19, while she also had 23 digs, four assists and four aces.
Mackenzie Anderson totaled nine digs, seven kills, two assists and one ace. Teammate Alyssa Bales finished totaled eight digs and two aces.
Kelsey Clark finished the win with 31 assists, 10 digs, six kills, two aces and a block.
McKinley Cox ended the game with totals of 10 kills, five digs, two blocks and one assist. Also for FHS, Kinsley Drury totaled three digs, two aces and one assist.
Jorja May for the Lady Lions had two digs, one ace and a block. Mya McIntosh collected one dig in the win.

Whiteoak falls to Eastern
The Whiteoak Lady Wildcats lost a SHAC match on Wednesday at home to the Eastern Lady Warriors.
WHS lost by scores of 28-26, 25-21 and 25-20.

Lady Indians suffer first loss of ’24 season
Hillsboro traveled to Fayette County on Thursday to face the Miami Trace Lady Panthers in a battle of undefeated teams. The FAC contest saw the Lady Panthers defeat the HHS Lady Indians in three straight sets, giving Hillsboro their first loss of the season.
HHS lost by scores of 25-12, 25-14 and 25-11.
Hillsboro now stands at 8-1 overall and 3-1 in the FAC.
Next for HHS is a tri-match on Saturday, Sept. 14 at Zane Trace.

Lady Mustangs win at Ripley
The Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs defeated the Ripley Lady Blue Jays in a five-set match on Thursday to earn their fifth SHAC win of the season.
The win by LCHS improves them to 6-3 overall and 5-1 in the SHAC.
LCHS won by scores of 25-18 (set one), 25-16 (set three) and 15-7 (set five). RHS won set two at 25-23 and set four at 25-23.
Next for LCHS is another SHAC match on Friday, Sept. 13 at home against the West Union Lady Dragons.
