McClain boys and girls win FAC swimming championships

The McClain Lady Tiger Sharks won the 2024-25 Frontier Athletic Conference girls swimming championship Wednesday night at McClain High School. 

McClain totaled a score of 346 for the win, followed by second place Chillicothe at 305. 

In third place was Hillsboro with a score of 201, and fourth place was Miami Trace with a 147 score. Placing fifth was Washington with a score of 70. 

Girls Highland County first place swimmers (All FAC) included: Laura Barber (MHS) 200 IM and 100 Freestyle, and Kamryn  Asbury (HHS) 50 Freestyle.

For the boys FAC championship on Thursday at McClain High School, the McClain Tiger Sharks won with a team score of 412. In second place was Chillicothe at 338, and in third place was Hillsboro with a score of 254. The fourth place team was Miami Trace with a 40 score, and fifth place went to Washington with 12 points. 

Boys Highland County first place finishers (All FAC) included: 200 Medley Relay Team (MHS)  — Ethan Eakins, Nicolas Alvarez, Cole Walker, and Zach Scales; and the 200 Freestyle Relay Team (HHS) — Cooper Swope, Cameron Burkard, Ryan Fender, and Robert Schneider. 

Individual All-FAC boys swimmers from Highland County were: Cameron Burkard (HHS) 200 IM and 100 Breaststroke, Zach Scales (MHS) 50 Freestyle and 100 Freestyle, and Ethan Eakins (MHS) 100 Backstroke.
