Fairfield wins at Fayetteville

In three sets Thursday night, the Fairfield Lady Lions defeated the host Fayetteville Lady Rockets to complete their SHAC schedule.

Already winning the SHAC Division II volleyball championship last week, the Lady Lions added one final conference victory to their overall total, winning by scores of 25-18, 25-15 and 25-16.

Fairfield improved their overall record to 16-6, and the Lady Lions finish with a SHAC Division II record of 12-1 with their lone loss in conference play being against the SHAC Division I champion, North Adams, who is 12-0 with one conference game left this Friday.

In conference games this season, the Lady Lions won in three straight sets 11 times out of 13 matches, only going to four sets against Peebles and the aforementioned match against NAHS.

Fairfield volleyball will play their first postseason game of ’24 on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at home against Peebles with a 7 p.m. start.

Whiteoak falls to Manchester

The Whiteoak Lady Wildcats lost a SHAC match on Thursday to the visiting Manchester Lady Greyhounds in three sets.

Manchester won the sets over Whiteoak by scores of 25-13, 25-22 and 25-21.

WHS now has an overall record of 2-20, and they finish 1-12 in SHAC games.  Manchester improves to 5-8 in the SHAC and 9-11 overall.

Whiteoak travels to face Eastern Reedsville in the postseason Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m.

Lady Indians defeat Clinton-Massie

In their final regular-season game of 2024, the Hillsboro Lady Indians defeated the visiting Clinton-Massie Lady Falcons in four sets at HHS.

HHS won set one at 25-15, and CMHS won the second set at 25-23. In the third set, HHS won with a score of 25-14, and the fourth set saw HHS win at 25-12.

Hillsboro improves to 15-7 overall, and in the FAC they finished with a conference record of 7-3.

HHS will play in the postseason tournament Monday, Oct. 14 against FAC and Highland County counterpart and rival, the McClain Lady Tigers, at Hillsboro High School with a 7 p.m. start.
