Slow start leads to Fairfield softball loss to Northwest

The Fairfield Lady Lions softball team hosted the Northwest Lady Mohawks at VA Memorial Stadium in Chillicothe on Monday, falling by a 14-4 score. 

FHS again got off to a slow start, mustering only one hit in the first three innings. Meanwhile, the Lady Mohawks took advantage of the all-turf field, hitting the ball hard on the ground up the middle to score six runs on five hits in the top of the second inning.  

Fairfield (5-4) committed three errors in the inning, but Fairfield had nine hits over the last four innings to score four runs.

Leading hitters for the Lady Lions included Rilee Quickle (3-for-4, one run, one RBI), Jobey Hattan (2-for-4, double, one RBI), Caitlyn Quickle (1-for-3, one RBI), Emmi Vance (two walks), Katelyn Chambliss (1-for-3, double, one run), Whitlee Morrow (1-for-2, one run, one RBI) and Sydney Hooper (2-for-3, one run).    

Caitlyn Quickle (4-3) suffered the loss for Fairfield. Quickle’s pitching line included six innings, allowing 13 hits, 11 runs, nine earned runs and two walks, and she had eight strikeouts.  

Katelyn Chambliss pitched one inning, allowing three hits, three runs and two earned runs, with no walks.
