Hosting the Fayetteville Rockets on Tuesday, the Fairfield Lions played close against the visiting Rockets, but a late rally by the Lions was not enough with Fairfield falling 12-11 in their Division II Southern Hills Athletic Conference contest.

After a scoreless first inning, the runs began to cross home plate with Fayetteville striking first with a 1-0 lead after the second inning. Next, the Lions outscored Fayetteville 4-2 in the third for a 4-3 lead.

After two more scoreless innings, the Rockets had six runs in the top of the sixth, and after one run was scored in the bottom of the inning by the Lions, it was the Rockets with a 9-5 lead.

The seventh inning saw Fayetteville add three runs to their total, while the Lions had a six-run rally that was just short of tying the game, giving the visiting Rockets the SHAC win.

Fayetteville finished with eight hits, and they committed two errors. The Lions also had eight hits and committed seven errors.

The Lions eight hits came from four players, where the leading hitter was Van Bennington at 3-for-4 with one run and two RBI.
